How to lose weight without exercise

Image
My school friends have seen me to be a plumpy girl. Now when they see me it is a shock for them. And all these have happened without gym, without any exercise; I did neither cycling nor swimming for these.  Well before revealing the secrets let me give a brief description of myself. I come from a typical bengali family (ghoti or pure Indian to be specific) where sugar is an essential part of every recipe that is prepared at home, where sweets (which includes different types of sweets/ misti and misti doi or sweet curd) is an   indispensable part of refrigerator. On almost every sunday the breakfast consists of oil dripped luchi, equally oily begun vaja along with alur dom and of course jalebi, rasgolla and gulab jamun, and (my favorite) rasomalai and laddu :D. Chutney and payesh will be the part of dessert throughout the year, of course the ingredients vary. During summer it would be aamer or jolpai er chutney and during winter the payesh would be of nolen gur. Then diff...

Evaluation of Devaluation

Year: 1952 Place: Kolkata 1 American Dollar= 4.97 Indian Rupees Price of 1kg of fresh hilsa fish was 1 rupee, the price of 2 pieces of samosa was 1paisa, tution fee was 20rupees a month. Though the colleges were co-educational, girls wouldn't even look at guys, talking to a guy was a sin. The packet ghee concept was not even there, neither there was need to put the label of pure ghee to emphasis that the ghee is pure. Letters were the mode of communication for an average Indian. Things were pretty much slow not only in terms of communication and growth but also there was no dynamism. People used to talk for hours when they met, without any hurry to move away from that place because of other priorities in life. There was not any priorities as such except the motto to lead a peaceful happy family life. Eating kachuri with hot jalebis on a sunday breakfast was a luxury and listening to radio about the live commentary of football match  and having a vebal fight over who is the bet...

A mother's womb

Image
It is said the ultimate success of a woman lies in her motherhood, for which the nature has created her. When a child is born it gives joy to the mother not only because this is her creation (partial though :P) but also because she has nurtured it by feeding it internally for 9 months. The joy comes from the fact that that little creation of her is so much dependent on her, when the baby wakes up its eyes desperately search for the mother, the only person with whom it feels secured with. The joy comes when the child sees the mother it smiles and that smile has no hidden agenda, no selfish motive, the smile is only because the child is seeing the mother. When the child tries to grab the mother's fingers with its tiny fingers or touches her neck with its little fingers that gives the mother an out of the world happiness, which has no comparison. The child is dependent on the mother till the time it can walk on its own. As the child grows up, the dependency decreases and it enters...

Be Happy.........

Image
Hi, I am Happy!  Not the adjective but a proper noun. Are you thinking- How is it possible? How can happy be a proper noun? Do you want to know the journey of Happy from an adjective to proper noun? Well the story starts from the time when I was born. At the time of my birth everyone was happy as I was born When the first ray of sunshine fell on my face its warmth made me smile I was new to the planet and as everything was new to me everything was so beautiful The gentle breeze, the azure blue sky,the droplets of rain, the snow flakes made me happy My mother's touch, my father smile when he used to see me , My grandparents' story telling, my siblings calling me by different names All these made me happy. As I got books with alphabets "a" "b" "c" , the smell of the books The pictures inside the books made me happy Time passed by and I grew up slowly I realized slowly there can be other sources of happiness as well I used to feel ha...

Dating - Relationships - FWB People say Kolkata is the “City of Love” beside being “City of Joy”. If you are a bengali then love marriage is pretty obvious- this is what the rest of India thinks. So I thought to give a broad view of Love life of an ordinary Bengali. Let me start from the time from when it starts- school days :D. There you would see different kinds of love story. Mostly guys falling for the cutest girl of the class, or the girl sharing tiffin with the guy who seats at the adjacent desk. After going back home while doing boring homework mind drifts to the time when a smile was exchanged or when was that person stared. Then in high school days, bunking class and roaming with the special one is the “love”. Mostly the high school chemistry gets reflected in the facebook pictures and the longevity of the relation depends on the number of likes and type of comments the pictures get. Then comes the college days where it’s mostly about knowing the “geography” of the oth...

All About Men

Image
Irrespective of language there are few common things that you would find in all Indian men: 1. “All” guys flirt with “all” girls. Be it your bf flirting with other girls or others’ bfs flirting with you. It’s upto you to what extent you will allow your man to do that or to what extent you will enjoy flirting. 2. Until and unless a guy tells explicitly that he loves you do not be under the assumption that he has feelings for you. Let the guy tell you that he loves you,let him tell you those 3 magical words then only get involved emotionally. 3. For a guy yes means a yes and no means a no. Grey areas do not exist in their mind but in their activity they do exist; this is because a guy does not want to hurt any girl in any way. Its easy for a girl to say shut up or to block a guy, but for a guy it is not. They are far more well behaved than us in that way. 4. It is very difficult to understand if a guy actually loves a girl or not. Coz they go for relation mostly not on the ...

I moved on, so I am here I started the journey all alone Met many people on either side of the road Some travelled with me for some distance Some talked for a while Some exchanged smiles Some just passed a glance But I kept on moving. I reached halfway and took a break Some stayed with me Some of my co-travellers took coffee with me We exchanged few details about our native places Discussed our likes and dislikes We shared our past travel experiences Some of them got emotional while sharing their past stories Pride reflected in the eyes of some, when They talked about the hurdles that they had crossed Happiness spread across their face while They shared their most memorable travel experiences. I again started the journey Many of them continued the trip Some stayed back as they had already reached their destination Few of them fell ill, I stopped for a while Gave them medicine, but that didnt help them They stopped taking breath...
