The 2 S - Saree & Sacrifice

Sacrifice is a very popular concept in India specially if it is done by a woman. Wife sacrificying her career for husband - wife becomes an idol, husband sacrifying his career for wife - husband is considered not a man enough; as if sacrifice is women's proprietary right. Saree is considered to be the purest form of dress even though it is not enough to cover the entire body. Saree is traditional and an expression of elegancy. Hence in most communities saree is worn during marriage, also newly weds are expected to wear saree at least few days post marriage. Strangly dhoti for men couldnt reach the Saree level. Dhotis are not normally worn by men post marriage, though sometimes dhotis are worn during pujas but mostly by the priest who wears it as part of his profession. Dhotis are not compulsion for men post marriage because of the simple reason that dhotis are neither convenient nor comfortable for daily use.
